Homemade Taco Seasoning

Tacos won the vote for dinner and I opted for a homemade seasoning this time around. I have been baking up a storm the past few days, but mixing a few extra ingredients is a breeze. We do have some premixed seasoning that is pretty good, but I've seen several suggestions to try the homemade version. I found a taco seasoning recipe that has tons of amazing reviews and went for it. Even though the recipe says it is for 10 servings, I just used a tablespoon of it and got great results.

I mixed chili powder, garlic powder, minced onion, and crushed red pepper together in a small bowl. I used minced onion rather than the powdered called for in the original recipe.

Then I added it to some ground turkey and cooked it over medium heat.

The mixture was ready after simmering for 5 minutes, and smelled fantastic.

Perfect ground turkey tacos were yet another easy and awesome meal!

Just the right amount of spice! I could really tell from the smell of the ground cumin that it was a big part of regular taco seasoning. It was better than the mix we have on hand for sure. I saw another version that had cayenne pepper and ground coriander seed, so I'll have to try it next time to compare. I can't think of a reason to buy taco seasoning again!

1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:
