I just decided to toss the berries in a casserole, throw some toppings on, and see how it came out. My father is a big fan of fruit crisps and cobblers, so I figured oatmeal over the top would make a great dessert for a family get together.
First things first, I spread some raspberries and blackberries in a casserole.
After I poured a bit of orange juice over the berries and sprinkled some sugar over the top. Blackberries aren't the sweetest of berries, so I knew some orange juice and sugar would sweeten them up a bit.
In a small bowl, I mixed some butter, brown sugar, oatmeal, and cinnamon.
Next, I spooned the oatmeal mixture over it.
I put it in the oven to bake for 20 minutes.
Easy, easy, easy! Though I love the meticulous recipes that take time and effort like Galaktoboureko, a quick throw-together dessert like this one is a great choice as well. This could even work for a nice sweet breakfast dish. With such basic ingredients as fruit, oatmeal, and a bit of butter and sugar, this one has enough of the healthy stuff to squeeze some vitamins into the day. The end result was pie-like and quite sweet, but without all the extra ingredients. When you have some extra fruit you need to use up, try this one out.
